Photos - one month

I snapped a couple pics just as I was getting ready to nurse the babies. I set them down on the couch next to each other while I was getting myself settled and they decided to try seeing if they could get any food from each other!

And I caught them in one "calm" moment...

1 month!

Madeline and Benjamin are one month old today! I can't believe how fast the past month has flown by.

They are changing and growing rapidly. Ben is up to 8 pounds and Madeline is just under that.

Yesterday we had to take Ben to the doctor. She thinks he has reflux. So he is now taking Zantac. Welcome to the real world, kid!

New pictures - Jan 25

More pictures taken in the past week. The ones with both of them laying on a colorful blanket are from today, just after they had a bath.

16 days old

Madeline and Benjamin have gained lots of weight in the past week. Both are up around 7 pounds now! You can't tell it too much from these pics, but Ben is becoming quite the bruiser!

2 week appointment

Maddie and Ben had their 2-week appointment with the pediatrician today. The great news is that they have surpassed their birth weights -- which is a huge accomplishment for premature babies to make in such a short period of time. Maddie is at 6 pounds 4 ounces and Ben is at 6 pounds 10 ounces. So they are still a little concerned about Maddie getting enough to eat, but clearly Ben is no longer a concern!

Amazing pictures

A good friend of mine, Sonja Hanggi, took some amazing pictures of my babies today that I'm so impressed with.

They are posted on Shutterfly right now and you can view them here.

Most are of Benjamin because Madeline had a bit of a meltdown since it was almost lunch time. Hopefully we can get more of her in the near future.

Pictures

I'm hearing from some of you that pictures are not showing up. So here's a couple different ways to see the various pictures I've posted in the past week.

Below is a slideshow that you should be able to see. If for some reason that doesn't work, go to this web page.

1 week old today!

UPDATE JAN 8: I seem to have encountered some problems with Blogspot and Picasa for getting the pictures on this posting. The pictures that I intended to put here are in the post called "Pictures" that I put up today.

Madeline and Benjamin are one week old today!

We dressed them in their matching "We are twins" onesies (one of our gifts) and took some pictures to mark the occasion. As you can see, Ben was not exactly a happy camper, but Madeline took it in stride. Twin "A" is Ben (on left) and "B" is Madeline (on right).

And please ignore the fact that I still look white as a ghost! My iron levels are still far too low, plus it doesn't help that I'm not wearing makeup. :-) I did, however, get a shower this morning!

My twin brother, David, came to visit his new niece and nephew yesterday. It was a very special treat for all of us. Here we are, two sets of twins...

Update on babies

Update:
We got home from the hospital yesterday. Babies are sleeping, pooping and eating and nothing else -- as expected! The doctor who discharged them said they had "exceeded expectations" and were wonderful babies!

My recovery is slowed a bit because I lost too much blood in the surgery and just after. I ended up getting a transfusion on Friday, but my energy levels are still very much sapped. It's going to take some time for my white color to return to pink and for me to get more energy (especially with sleepless nights with babies).

Our first night home was a bit traumatic. The babies seemed to want to eat every 30 to 60 minutes and they wouldn't sleep in their crib (although Ben powered through in the crib for the last 2 or 3 hours this morning). We're hoping tonight will be a tad bit better.

Thanks to all who have already volunteered to help us! It's really nice just having another adult pair of hands to get me a glass of water or hold a baby or change or diaper or whatever. Both yesterday and today I was able to get a shower only because somebody else was here to help with the babies for my few minutes of luxury!

We'll try to add more later today.

We are now home from the hospital. Everybody checked out okay. Pediatrician said the babies "exceeded expectations"!

Babies arrived!

Madeline and Benjamin Webster were born Wednesday, Dec. 31st at about 8:45 a.m. after a successful planned c-section. The great news is that, although they are 3 weeks early, they each weighed in just above 6 pounds! That's a great size for twins born early!!

Will post more later!
