Sleep is so great!

Yesterday I started being a bit tougher on nap times...following the cry-it-out method from "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child." Wow, does that work like a dream!!

The first nap they did "protest crying" -- as I mentioned in yesterday's post -- and they slept for 2 1/2 hours. The second nap was a bit easier (but also, a shorter sleep). Then I put them down at 5 pm (which the book says is kind of optional at this age) because they seemed very tired. They both fought it pretty hard, but after about a half hour of crying and soothing, down they went for about 30-45 minutes.

Then they went to bed at 8 pm without hardly a whimper.

I didn't hear a peep until 5:45 when I heard Maddie talking to herself (caveat....Jamey says he found Maddie awake at 1 am and he got her back to sleep). Ben was still asleep and stayed down until 6:15.

So I got them up, they played a bit and had a big bottle (7 oz!) and by 7:45 both were back in their cribs and went to sleep without a fight. It's 9:20 and they're still sleeping!

I love this. Knock on wood that it continues!!

The author of this book is coming out with a version specifically for twins. It's due June 9th and I've got my copy pre-ordered on Amazon. Can't wait to see what it says!!
