7 weeks
We've made it past the big 6-week mark and things are starting to change....
Babies are sleeping longer at night. they've been doing a 5-hour stretch from about midnight til about 5 am the last few nights. We're praying this is a trend that continues!! As a result, Mom is getting a lot more uninterrupted sleep.
Both babies are hovering around 10 pounds -- Ben just a little over and Maddie just a little under. We've ditched the "newborn" diapers and clothes and moved up to the sizes that most single newborns start with! Yeah!
I've been cleared to start exercising again. Doctor says my incision has healed really well and I'm ready to try to rid myself of the remaining 20 pounds (I've already lost 40 pounds!) I'm hoping to build a little exercise time into my days as some "me" time. Luckily we have exercise equipment in the basement so I don't have to go anywhere. I haven't exercised regularly since early November. It'll be interesting to see how much strength and endurance I've lost.
Jamey has gone back to "work" -- the remodeling on the duplex that we bought last fall. The goal is to get the top unit finished and rented by March 1 and the bottom unit rented by April 1. He's still only working part-time though (about 5 or 6 hours a day) because of the high demands here.
It would be really tough for me to be alone with the babies for a full day. Plus Jamey sleeps in later in the morning cause he stays up for the later feeding at night so I can go to bed. We might be able to adjust this now that the babies are sleeping longer, though.
Last week we had "date night" thanks to some good friends of ours who came over to babysit. We just went to a nearby restaurant and were home after a little more than an hour. It was nice just to sit at a table and eat a meal prepared by someone else and not have to do any dishes!

Sleeping with my sibling
| From MJ's News and Notes |
This morning after our a.m. nursing session, both babies were very much inclined to sleeping. They didn't nurse for long, so I wasn't sure if they were done or just napping. So I settled in for a nap with them.
I nuzzled Maddie up against my stomach (with me on my side) and Ben right behind her. He spooned up next to her. And they snoozed away for almost 2 hours! I snuck out at one point and took this picture and managed to get breakfast and a shower before they woke up. They slept like rocks, too! they must love being next to each other like this.

First family outing!
Yesterday Maddie and Ben had their first family get-together -- and their first outing besides trips to the doctor! It was also their 6-week old birthday.
We went to my cousin Doug and Sara's house to celebrate several family birthdays, particularly the two 2-year-olds -- Olympia and Emily -- who were born a day apart. Not all of the family was there, but most of the Twin Cities' based ones were.
The kids -- ages 4 and under -- were fascinated by Ben and Maddie. Each took a turn holding one or the other. Olympia was especially enthralled, helping to feed each one and following us to the changing table when it was time for a new diaper.
Here's a pic of all the kids. It was quite a challenge to get 4 toddlers to all look in the same direction and not have a funny face!
Here's birthday girl Olympia with Maddie..

And a few more...

Photos - one month
I snapped a couple pics just as I was getting ready to nurse the babies. I set them down on the couch next to each other while I was getting myself settled and they decided to try seeing if they could get any food from each other!
And I caught them in one "calm" moment...

1 month!
Madeline and Benjamin are one month old today! I can't believe how fast the past month has flown by.
They are changing and growing rapidly. Ben is up to 8 pounds and Madeline is just under that.
Yesterday we had to take Ben to the doctor. She thinks he has reflux. So he is now taking Zantac. Welcome to the real world, kid!

More pictures taken in the past week. The ones with both of them laying on a colorful blanket are from today, just after they had a bath.
This is my life now...two babies in my arms at one time!
This one below is Ben...
This one is Maddie ...not too happy...
