Registries are done

It's amazing how much work it takes to figure out (and pick out) what you are going to need for two babies. I'm sure it's about the same even just for one. Walking into Babies R Us and feeling daunted by the rows and rows of "stuff" is a weird feeling.

But I just kept reminding myself that we don't need everything! Heck, my parents didn't have vibrating bouncy seats, diaper genies, bottle warmers, etc. We spent a good deal of time in these "car seats" that were basically just a seat with a carrying handle -- nothing really safe about them. I think that's how my parents managed to move two of us around at the same time. And my poor dad got the horrible job of washing out cloth diapers every morning before going to work. Pampers were "new" back then and my parents couldn't afford to use them on a regular basis. (Apparently they did use them when we traveled, though)

Nonetheless, it was kind of fun to pick out things that hopefully my little ones will enjoy -- or that will make my life a bit easier!

We set up three registries -- each with slightly different stuff. The biggest one is at Babies R Us (either online or in the store), the second is at Target (also online or in the store) and the third is online only at Amazon. The Amazon one is loaded mainly with books, since you can find a much greater selection there than at the other stores.

We have three baby showers already scheduled, a fourth being planned and we're expecting at least one other.

This weekend I'm going to a huge sale of used stuff put on by the St. Paul Moms of Multiples. I joined the group, which means I get first dibs. And apparently they let the pregnant members in the door before all the other members! Nice. So I'm going to look for some of the bigger stuff that we'll be less likely to get as gifts, particularly the things that I want more than one of or that are very specific to multiples and can't be found in your average store (like a double baby carrier -- kind of like a Baby Bjorn -- and a twin nursing pillow).
